These spooky spider web deviled eggs are a fun, easy, and impressive Halloween party snack. With a creamy black filling piped into intricate web designs, they offer a perfect balance of visual drama and classic comfort food flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup full-fat mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons prepared yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon distilled white vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon kosher salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Gel-based black food coloring
  • Optional: Extra paprika or chopped chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. Place eggs in a single layer in a pot and cover with cold water by an inch. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then reduce heat to a simmer and cook for 12 minutes.
  2. Immediately transfer the eggs to a bowl of ice water and let them sit for at least 10 minutes to stop the cooking process.
  3. Gently tap and peel the eggs under running water. Trim the bottom of the egg whites slightly if needed to create a flat base.
  4. Slice each egg in half lengthwise. Carefully remove the yolks and place them in a medium bowl, reserving the whites on a plate.
  5. Mash the yolks with a fork until fine. Add mayonnaise, mustard, vinegar, paprika, salt, and pepper. Mix until smooth.
  6. Add a small amount of gel black food coloring to the yolk mixture and mix until a deep, dark black color is achieved.
  7. Scoop the black filling into a piping bag fitted with a small round tip (or a ziplock bag with a small corner cut off).
  8. Hold the piping bag perpendicular to the egg white. Start in the center and pipe small loops, connecting them to the edges to create a web pattern. Repeat for all egg halves.

Notes

Use gel-based food coloring instead of liquid to maintain the correct texture. Chill the filling in the fridge for 15 minutes before piping for easier handling. Ensure egg whites are completely dry before piping to prevent sliding. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two days. Do not freeze.
