These festive American flag jello shots are a quick, easy, and visually striking treat perfect for summer celebrations like the Fourth of July. They feature layered red, white, and blue colors with a balanced boozy and sweet flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 box (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry Jello
  • 1 box (3 oz / 85 g) blueberry or berry blue Jello
  • 1 cup (240 ml) sweetened condensed milk (or coconut milk for dairy-free)
  • 1 ½ cups (360 ml) vodka, divided
  • 3 cups (720 ml) boiling water, divided
  • 3 cups (720 ml) ice water, divided
  • Optional: fresh blueberries or sliced strawberries for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the red layer: Boil 1 cup (240 ml) water, stir in red Jello powder until dissolved (about 2 minutes). Add ½ cup (120 ml) vodka and ½ cup (120 ml) ice water to cool. Pour about 1 tablespoon (15 ml) into each shot glass. Chill 30-45 minutes until set but slightly tacky.
  2. Prepare the white layer: Mix sweetened condensed milk with ½ cup (120 ml) boiling water until smooth. Add ½ cup (120 ml) vodka and ½ cup (120 ml) ice water, whisk well. Pour 1 tablespoon (15 ml) gently over red layer. Chill 30-45 minutes until set but slightly tacky.
  3. Prepare the blue layer: Dissolve blue Jello powder in 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water. Add ½ cup (120 ml) vodka and ½ cup (120 ml) ice water to cool. Pour 1 tablespoon (15 ml) over white layer. Chill at least 2 hours until fully set.
  4. Repeat layering in order: red, white, blue, white, red until shot glasses are full or mixture runs out. Chill each layer properly to keep colors distinct.
  5. Final chill: Refrigerate shots for at least 4 hours before serving to meld flavors and firm up.
  6. Serve chilled, garnished with a fresh blueberry or small strawberry slice.

Notes

Chill each layer until just firm before adding the next to prevent colors from mixing. Pour layers slowly over the back of a spoon. Adjust boiling water slightly if layers are too firm. Store refrigerated and consume within 24 hours. Non-alcoholic versions can replace vodka with cold water or lemon-lime soda.
