A colorful and shareable dessert board featuring fresh berries, crunchy cookies, and a silky smooth chocolate dip, perfect for 4th of July celebrations or any festive occasion.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries, hulled and halved
  • Blueberries
  • Raspberries (optional)
  • Banana slices
  • Shortbread cookies or buttery biscuits
  • Mini pretzels
  • Graham crackers, broken into bite-sized pieces
  • Dark cocoa powder (unsweetened, about 1/3 cup)
  • Heavy cream (or full-fat coconut milk for dairy-free option, 1/2 cup)
  • Powdered sugar (1/4 cup, adjust to taste)
  • Vanilla extract (1 teaspoon)
  • Salt (a pinch)
  • White chocolate chips (optional, for drizzling)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
  • Edible red, white, and blue sprinkles (optional)

Instructions

  1. Rinse all fresh berries gently under cold water and pat dry. Hull and halve the strawberries, slice the bananas just before assembling to avoid browning. Set aside on a paper towel to remove excess moisture. (About 10 minutes)
  2. In a medium mixing bowl, whisk together 1/3 cup (35g) of unsweetened dark cocoa powder and 1/4 cup (30g) powdered sugar. Slowly pour in 1/2 cup (120ml) of heavy cream while whisking continuously to avoid lumps. Add 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the mixture is smooth and slightly thickened but still pourable. If needed, refrigerate for 10 minutes to thicken further. (10-15 minutes)
  3. Place the chocolate dip in a small ramekin or bowl in the center or corner of your serving board. Start by grouping the strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries in clusters around the dip. Add banana slices close to the berries. Then arrange the cookies, pretzels, and graham cracker pieces in small piles, balancing colors and textures. Leave some gaps for an inviting, casual look. (10 minutes)
  4. Optionally, sprinkle some edible red, white, and blue sprinkles over the board or drizzle melted white chocolate over the cookies for extra festivity. Garnish with fresh mint leaves for a pop of green and aroma. (5 minutes)
  5. Bring the board to the table and watch everyone dig in—dip cookies and fruit into the luscious chocolate sauce and savor the mix of flavors and textures. (Instant gratification!)

Notes

If the chocolate dip becomes too thick after chilling, stir in a splash of cream to loosen it before serving. Slice bananas last minute to prevent browning. Use cold cream for better dip texture. Arrange board in clusters for a more inviting look. Store chocolate dip separately from fruit and cookies to maintain freshness.
