This easy non-alcoholic witches brew punch with dry ice effect is a spooky, delicious crowd-pleaser that combines pineapple, lime, and coconut for a refreshingly balanced flavor. The dry ice creates a dramatic fog effect that wows guests, while the simple ingredients and quick prep make it perfect for Halloween parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 cups pineapple juice
  • 1 cup freshly squeezed lime juice (about 68 limes)
  • 2 cups coconut water
  • 1/2 cup simple syrup (equal parts sugar and water)
  • 2 cups ginger ale
  • 1/2 cup pomegranate juice
  • Orange slices for garnish
  • Fresh mint leaves for garnish
  • 12 pounds dry ice

Instructions

  1. Make the simple syrup: Combine 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup white sugar in a small saucepan. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until sugar dissolves completely (about 3-4 minutes). Let cool completely.
  2. Juice the limes: Roll each lime firmly on the counter before cutting to get the most juice. Strain through a fine-mesh sieve to remove seeds and pulp if desired.
  3. Mix the base: In a large pitcher, combine pineapple juice, fresh lime juice, coconut water, and cooled simple syrup. Stir well. Cover and refrigerate for up to 24 hours.
  4. Add color: Pour in pomegranate juice and stir until the punch turns a deep purple-red color. Adjust with more pomegranate juice for darker color or more lime juice for brightness.
  5. Chill thoroughly: Refrigerate the base for at least 2 hours or overnight. The punch must be very cold before adding dry ice.
  6. Right before serving: Pour the chilled base into a large punch bowl. Gently stir in the ginger ale.
  7. Add dry ice last: Using tongs or thick gloves, carefully place small chunks of dry ice into the punch bowl. Start with about 1/2 pound and add more as needed. The fog will start pouring out immediately.
  8. Garnish dramatically: Float orange slices on top and tuck fresh mint leaves around the edges.
  9. Wait 2-3 minutes before serving to let the fog effect build up.
  10. Serve immediately: Ladle the punch into cups, ensuring no pieces of dry ice end up in individual glasses. Add more dry ice every 20-30 minutes to maintain the fog effect.

Notes

Dry ice safety is crucial: never handle with bare hands, never store in an airtight container, and never put dry ice directly into individual cups. The punch base can be made up to 3 days ahead. For longer parties, keep extra dry ice in a cooler and add fresh pieces every 20-30 minutes. The colder the punch base, the longer the fog effect lasts.
