These easy rainbow fruit kabobs are a fun, fast, and beautiful snack that kids love. Made with fresh fruit and skewers, they’re perfect for parties, after-school snacks, or a healthy treat.

Ingredients

  • Strawberries
  • Oranges or Cantaloupe
  • Pineapple
  • Green Grapes
  • Blueberries
  • Wooden Skewers

Instructions

  1. Wash all your fruit thoroughly. Rinse the strawberries, blueberries, and grapes under cool running water. Pat everything dry with paper towels.
  2. Prep the fruit. Cut the green tops off the strawberries. If they’re large, slice them in half lengthwise. For the oranges or cantaloupe, peel and cut into bite-sized chunks. Pineapple should be cut into similar-sized cubes, about 1 inch in size.
  3. Set up your assembly line. Arrange your prepped fruit in separate bowls in the order of the rainbow: red (strawberries), orange (cantaloupe/oranges), yellow (pineapple), green (grapes), blue (blueberries).
  4. Thread the fruit onto the skewers. Start with a strawberry (red), then add a piece of cantaloupe or orange (orange), then a chunk of pineapple (yellow), followed by a green grape, and finish with a blueberry. Repeat this pattern until the skewer is full, leaving about an inch at the bottom as a handle.
  5. Repeat until all fruit is used. You’ll get about 8-12 kabobs from a standard batch.
  6. Chill before serving. Place the finished kabobs on a plate or tray and refrigerate for at least 15-20 minutes.

Notes

Use firm, slightly under-ripe fruit for best texture. Cut fruit into uniform 1-inch pieces. Leave about an inch of the skewer exposed at the bottom as a handle. For toddlers, use short skewers or cut the pointed ends off. You can prep the fruit a day in advance and store in separate airtight containers in the fridge.
