Easy Juicy Corn on the Cob Freezing Without Blanching Tips

freezing corn on the cob without blanching - featured image

A simple and effective method to freeze fresh corn on the cob without blanching, preserving its juicy sweetness and texture for up to 12 months.

Ingredients

  • Fresh corn on the cob
  • Freezer-safe plastic bags or wrap (heavy-duty zipper seal bags recommended)

Instructions

  1. Husk the corn by carefully peeling off the green husks and removing as much silk as possible (about 5 minutes per ear).
  2. Pat each ear dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels to remove surface moisture.
  3. Optional: Trim about a half-inch off the bottom of the stalk if needed to fit better in bags.
  4. Wrap each dried ear tightly in plastic wrap, preferably twice to protect against freezer burn.
  5. Place the wrapped ears into a freezer-safe zip-top bag, squeezing out as much air as possible before sealing. Use a vacuum sealer if available.
  6. Label the bag with the date and freeze. Use within 8-12 months for best quality.

Notes

Ensure corn is thoroughly dried before freezing to prevent ice crystals and mushy kernels. Avoid overcrowding bags to freeze quickly and evenly. Corn can be cooked directly from frozen by boiling, steaming, or grilling with slightly extended cooking times.
