These easy ham and Swiss roll-ups are a protein-packed, no-cook lunch that comes together in under 10 minutes. Perfect for meal prep, bento boxes, and busy weekdays, they’re endlessly customizable and taste even better the next day.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 slices deli ham (black forest or honey ham)
  • 8 slices Swiss cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes
  • 1 cup cucumber slices
  • 1/2 cup baby carrots
  • 1/2 cup grapes or apple slices
  • 1/4 cup almonds or your favorite crackers
  • Lettuce leaves or fresh herbs (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Lay out the ham slices flat on a cutting board, slightly overlapping if needed.
  2. Spread a thin layer of softened cream cheese (about 1 teaspoon per slice) over each ham slice.
  3. Spread about 1/2 teaspoon of Dijon mustard over the cream cheese.
  4. Place one slice of Swiss cheese on top of each ham slice, folding or trimming to fit within the ham’s edges.
  5. Starting from one short end, roll the ham and cheese tightly, sealing the edge with the cream cheese.
  6. Using a sharp knife, slice each roll into 4-5 even pieces, about 1 inch thick. Use toothpicks to hold them together if needed.
  7. Wash and slice the cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and baby carrots. Rinse and pat dry the grapes.
  8. Assemble the bento box: place the roll-up pinwheels in one compartment, and arrange the veggies, fruit, and almonds or crackers in the other compartments. Garnish with lettuce or herbs if desired.
  9. Chill the assembled bento box in the fridge for at least 15 minutes before serving or packing.

Notes

For best results, let cream cheese come to room temperature before spreading. Use a sharp knife for clean slices. Roll-ups keep in the fridge for up to 4 days and taste better after a day. For a dairy-free version, use dairy-free cream cheese and plant-based Swiss cheese. For a keto version, skip the crackers and grapes and add extra cheese cubes or macadamia nuts.
