A quick and easy Halloween charcuterie board featuring candy corn and cheese, perfect for parties with minimal effort. This sweet-salty board combines creamy cheeses, crunchy crackers, and festive candy for a crowd-pleasing appetizer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • Assorted Cheeses (3-4 varieties: sharp cheddar, brie or camembert, gouda or edam, gorgonzola)
  • 1 cup candy corn (Brach’s recommended)
  • 12 cups Halloween candy (mini chocolate bars, gummy worms, candy eyeballs)
  • 2 cups crackers and bread (water crackers, butter crackers, pretzel sticks, sliced baguette)
  • 1 cup fresh fruit (red grapes, apple slices, pear slices; toss apple slices in lemon juice)
  • ½ cup nuts and seeds (roasted almonds, pecans, or pumpkin seeds, lightly salted)
  • ½ cup dried fruit (dried apricots, figs, or cranberries)
  • ½ cup olives and pickles (cornichons, olives, or pickled vegetables)
  • 12 dips and spreads (honey, whole-grain mustard, or jam)
  • Halloween decorations (optional: plastic spiders, fake cobwebs, small pumpkins)

Instructions

  1. Set the Stage: Place your board on a flat surface. If using parchment paper, lay it down first. Position small bowls near the edges.
  2. Place the Cheeses: Unwrap cheeses and space them around the board. For hard cheeses like cheddar, slice a few pieces in advance. For soft cheeses like brie, leave whole or cut a wedge.
  3. Add the Crackers: Arrange crackers and bread slices around the cheeses in small clusters. Group similar crackers together.
  4. Fill the Bowls: Pour candy corn into one bowl, other Halloween candy into another, and dips or spreads into the rest. Place bowls in gaps between cheese and crackers.
  5. Scatter the Fruit and Nuts: Tuck grapes, apple slices, and pear slices into empty spaces. Sprinkle nuts and dried fruit around the board.
  6. Add Olives and Pickles: Place small piles of olives and cornichons in corners, away from sweet elements.
  7. Drizzle and Decorate: Drizzle honey over brie or into a small bowl. Tuck Halloween decorations around the board.
  8. Final Check: Step back and look at the board. Fill empty spots with extra crackers or candy. Adjust for easy reach.

Notes

Cheese tastes best at room temperature; take out of fridge 30 minutes before serving. For make-ahead, assemble cheese, fruit, nuts, and olives up to 24 hours in advance; add crackers and candy just before serving. Balance textures and flavors—aim for a mix of sweet, salty, tangy, and creamy. Don’t overcrowd the board; leave space between items.
