Three-ingredient bacon-wrapped smokies coated in brown sugar and baked until caramelized. The perfect sweet and savory game day appetizer that disappears fast.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 packages (14 oz each) Little Smokies
  • 1 lb thick-cut bacon
  • 1 cup packed light brown sugar
  • Optional: cayenne pepper, red pepper flakes, maple syrup, black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil and place a wire rack on top if available.
  2. Cut each bacon strip crosswise into three equal pieces.
  3. Wrap each little smokie with a piece of bacon, overlapping slightly, and secure with a toothpick through the center.
  4. Pour brown sugar into a shallow bowl. Roll each bacon-wrapped smokie in the brown sugar, pressing gently to coat.
  5. Arrange the smokies in a single layer on the wire rack, leaving space between each.
  6. Bake for 35-40 minutes, until bacon is golden brown and sugar is bubbly and caramelized. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through.
  7. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving. Remove toothpicks if desired, or leave them in for easy grabbing.
  8. Transfer to a serving platter and serve warm.

Notes

For extra crispy bacon, bake 40-45 minutes but watch closely to prevent burning. If brown sugar burns before bacon is crispy, reduce oven to 350°F and bake 40-45 minutes. Soak toothpicks in water for 10 minutes to prevent burning. Can be assembled up to 24 hours ahead (add brown sugar just before baking).
