Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups (400g) granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, room temperature
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (120g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup (90g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup (120g) powdered sugar, sifted
  • ¼ cup (60g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 23 tablespoons milk (dairy-free if needed)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • White icing or white chocolate for football laces

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter and granulated sugar until combined. Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  3. In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture with a rubber spatula until just combined. Avoid overmixing.
  5. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pan and smooth the top with a spatula.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs but no wet batter. Edges should look set and slightly pull away from the pan.
  7. Cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before frosting.
  8. To make the frosting, beat the softened butter until creamy. Gradually add sifted powdered sugar and cocoa powder, alternating with milk, until smooth and spreadable. Mix in vanilla extract.
  9. Transfer frosting to a piping bag or resealable plastic bag. Pipe football shapes onto the brownies—oval blobs with pointed ends. Add laces using white icing or melted white chocolate.
  10. Let the frosting set at room temperature for about 15 minutes before slicing.

Notes

Use room temperature eggs and butter for best results. Sift cocoa powder and powdered sugar to avoid lumps. Cool brownies completely before frosting to prevent melting. Adjust frosting consistency by adding milk or powdered sugar as needed. Piping football shapes doesn’t have to be perfect; homemade charm is appreciated.
