These easy holiday appetizers feature flaky puff pastry filled with melted brie and tart cranberry sauce, baked to golden perfection for a satisfying sweet and savory bite.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 oz young soft brie cheese, cut into small cubes
  • Whole berry or smooth jarred cranberry sauce
  • 1 large egg beaten with 1 tablespoon water or milk (for egg wash)
  • Sesame seeds or poppy seeds (optional)
  • Melted butter (optional, for brushing after baking)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C) and line two large baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Roll out thawed puff pastry sheets slightly to smooth creases, then cut each sheet into four equal squares (8 total).
  3. Place a small amount of cranberry sauce (about 1 teaspoon) in the center of each pastry square.
  4. Top the sauce with a cube of brie cheese.
  5. Fold the pastry over the filling to create a triangle or sealed pocket, pressing edges firmly to seal.
  6. Brush the tops with egg wash and sprinkle with sesame or poppy seeds if desired.
  7. Place pastries on baking sheets, leaving space between them.
  8. Bake for 15-18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
  9. Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before serving warm.

Notes

Keep the pastry cold until baking to ensure flakiness. Do not overfill to prevent leaking. For convection ovens, reduce temperature by 25°F. Can be frozen unbaked and baked from frozen, adding a few minutes to cook time.
