Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 salmon fillets, skin-on, about 6 ounces each
  • Olive oil, for brushing
  • Salt, to taste
  • Black pepper, to taste
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 2 tablespoons fresh dill, finely chopped
  • Juice and zest of 1 medium lemon
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • Optional: pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels to ensure crispiness.
  2. Lightly brush both sides of the salmon with olive oil and season generously with salt and black pepper.
  3. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 3 minutes.
  4. In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter until foamy but not browned.
  5. Add minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  6. Stir in lemon zest, lemon juice, chopped dill, and red pepper flakes if using. Remove from heat and keep warm.
  7. Place salmon fillets skin-side down in the air fryer basket in a single layer.
  8. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 10-12 minutes, depending on thickness, until the skin is crispy and the flesh flakes easily but remains moist.
  9. Check doneness by gently flaking the thickest part with a fork.
  10. Transfer salmon to plates and spoon the lemon dill butter sauce over the top.
  11. Garnish with extra fresh dill or lemon zest if desired and serve immediately.

Notes

Pat salmon dry before cooking to ensure crispy skin. Do not overcrowd the air fryer basket to allow even cooking. Preheat the air fryer for best results. Check salmon a minute or two before the timer ends to avoid overcooking. The lemon dill butter sauce can be made ahead and gently reheated. For a dairy-free version, substitute butter with vegan margarine or olive oil.
