A quick, healthy, and zesty guacamole dip bursting with fresh lime juice and cilantro, perfect for any occasion and easy to prepare in under 10 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 ripe avocados (medium to large, slightly soft to the touch but not mushy)
  • 1 small red onion, finely diced
  • 12 fresh limes, juiced
  • 1/2 cup fresh cilantro, chopped
  • 1 medium tomato, seeded and diced (optional)
  • 1 small garlic clove, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground black pepper (freshly cracked)
  • Optional: 1 small jalapeño, seeded and finely chopped

Instructions

  1. Cut each avocado in half lengthwise and remove the pit carefully. Scoop the flesh into your mixing bowl.
  2. Using a fork or potato masher, mash the avocado to your liking—creamy but with some bits for texture (about 1-2 minutes).
  3. Squeeze the juice of 1 lime (about 2 tablespoons or 30 ml) over the mashed avocado and mix well to prevent browning.
  4. Add the finely diced red onion and minced garlic to the bowl. Stir gently to combine.
  5. Fold in the chopped cilantro and diced tomato.
  6. Sprinkle in the salt and freshly cracked black pepper. Add the finely chopped jalapeño if you want heat.
  7. Give everything one last gentle mix. Transfer to a serving bowl and garnish with a sprig of cilantro or a lime wedge if desired.

Notes

Press plastic wrap directly onto the surface of the guacamole to minimize air contact and keep it green if not serving immediately. For a chunkier texture, mash half the avocado and fold in the rest chopped. Fresh lime juice added right after mashing slows oxidation and prevents browning. Soaking diced onions in cold water for 10 minutes can soften their sharpness.
