A quick and easy homemade version of the classic minty Shamrock Shake, creamy and refreshing with simple ingredients you can trust.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups (480 ml) vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup (240 ml) whole milk
  • 1 teaspoon peppermint extract
  • A few drops green food coloring (optional)
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • Whipped cream (for topping)
  • Maraschino cherry (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Chill your milkshake glasses in the freezer for about 10 minutes before starting.
  2. In a blender, combine 2 cups vanilla ice cream, 1 cup whole milk, 1 teaspoon peppermint extract, 2 tablespoons granulated sugar, and a few drops of green food coloring.
  3. Pulse the mixture on medium speed for 30-45 seconds until smooth and creamy. Add a splash more milk if too thick and blend again.
  4. Taste and adjust peppermint extract or sugar as desired, blending briefly after adjustments.
  5. Pour the shake into chilled glasses immediately.
  6. Top with whipped cream and a maraschino cherry.
  7. Serve right away with a thick straw or spoon. Refrigerate leftovers up to 1 hour and stir or re-blend before serving.

Notes

Use quality ice cream for best creaminess. Control peppermint extract carefully as it is potent. Chill ingredients and glasses for a thicker shake. Avoid over-blending to prevent melting ice cream. Natural colorings like matcha powder can replace food coloring. Refrigerate leftovers up to 1 hour and re-blend before serving.
