A warm and indulgent Irish coffee cocktail topped with freshly whipped cream, perfect for cozy nights and quick to prepare.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 oz (45 ml) Irish Whiskey (e.g., Jameson)
  • 6 oz (180 ml) freshly brewed hot coffee (medium to dark roast)
  • 1 tbsp light brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream, chilled (at least 36% fat)
  • 1/4 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
  • 1 tsp powdered sugar
  • Pinch of freshly grated nutmeg or cocoa powder (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Brew 6 ounces (180 ml) of your favorite medium to dark roast coffee. Pour it into a heatproof glass or mug.
  2. Stir in 1 tablespoon of light brown sugar while the coffee is still hot until dissolved.
  3. Add 1.5 ounces (45 ml) of Irish whiskey to the sweetened coffee and stir.
  4. In a chilled mixing bowl, combine 1/4 cup (60 ml) heavy cream, 1 teaspoon powdered sugar, and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional). Whip with a whisk or electric hand mixer until soft peaks form.
  5. Using the back of a spoon, gently layer the whipped cream over the coffee mixture so it floats on top.
  6. Optionally, sprinkle a pinch of freshly grated nutmeg or cocoa powder over the whipped cream.
  7. Serve immediately while the coffee is hot and the whipped cream is soft and fluffy.

Notes

Chill your mixing bowl and beaters before whipping cream for best results. Do not overwhip the cream; stop at soft peaks. Use freshly brewed hot coffee for optimal flavor. Layer whipped cream gently over the coffee using the back of a spoon to keep layers distinct. Adjust sweetness to taste. For dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with coconut or cashew cream whipped to soft peaks. Store coffee base separately if needed and reheat gently; whip fresh cream before serving again.
