  • Coarse salt or sugar for rimming (or chili-lime salt for spicy version)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your glasses by running a lime wedge around the rim, then dip into coarse salt or sugar (or chili-lime salt for spicy margarita). Set aside.
  2. Juice fresh limes to get about 1 oz (30 ml) of juice per drink. Strain to remove seeds and pulp.
  3. Make simple syrup if needed by combining equal parts sugar and water, heating gently until sugar dissolves, then cooling.
  4. For the classic margarita: In a shaker, combine 2 oz tequila blanco, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz orange liqueur, and ½ oz simple syrup. Add ice halfway, seal, and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds.
  5. For the fruity margarita: Add 2 oz fresh fruit puree to the classic mixture before shaking.
  6. For the spicy margarita: Muddle 2-3 jalapeño slices gently in the shaker before adding the other ingredients. Adjust slices for heat preference.
  7. Strain the shaken margarita into the prepared glass filled with fresh ice. Garnish with a lime wheel or jalapeño slice for spicy version.
  8. Enjoy immediately, sipping slowly to savor the flavors.

Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds to chill and blend ingredients. Use bigger ice cubes to prevent quick dilution. Adjust sweetness with simple syrup cautiously.
